Research Problem
The National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses (2008) reported that an estimated 3,063,162 licensed registered nurses have been registered in the United States since 2008. As a result of growth population of the nurse, there have been increasing pathogen infection issues in the medical fields. According to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) report that “At any given time, about one in every 25 hospitalized patients has a healthcare-associated infection while over 1 million Health Care-Associated Infections (HAIs) occur across in the United States healthcare system every year (2016).” Over the last decade, the issue in the United States of nosocomial infections is the most critical complications affecting hospitalized patients and these infections increase patient’s morbidity and mortality. There is always ensuring patient safety in the ambulatory setting; therefore, healthcare has no doubt approached the promotion in patient safety and healthcare workers in recent years (Nordstrom, Reynolds, & Gerba, 2012).
A purpose of the nurses’ scrubs (NS) is to improve the functionality to protect the nurses and patients as well. Specifically, the practicality and accuracy of NS has been shown to be important in many studies and the industry itself. There are several important considerations in order to manufacture the NS.
