Herakles the Son of Zeus in the Modern World 1288 BC - Present
In Greek mythology, Herakles is considered the most popular figure. Hercules is the Roman name for Herakles, who was a Greek hero. He was the son of the king of gods, known as Zeus, and Alcmene “the mortal woman”. Zeus was also after other women and he took on the form of Amplitron, Alcmene 's husband. When he visited Alcmene one night in her bed, they lay together and Herakles was born. He had great stamina and strengths which made him considered a demi-god. He was extraordinary and could perform amazing skills and feats including traveling to the world twice and wrestling death. His stories were told throughout Greece and Rome. From the moment of his birth, his life had not been easy. His relationships with other people were also very disastrous. This is because Hera, Zeus’ Wife, was always trying to destroy him. Besides the stories of Herakles being entertaining, it served as a warning to the people of Greece that made them aware that bad things could happen to a hero like Herakles, they had no control over their disappointments. He served as a symbol of the conditions human beings were facing.
