It was just another regular day working at the Solon Feed Mill, until my friend Spencer texted me. He told me that our other friend, Matthew, had just quit his job at Nelson Electric and that they were looking for another person to work there. Spencer has been one of my best friends all throughout high school. He’s about 6’0, 190 lbs and built like a brick wall. He’s going to go play football at Loras College as a DE/LB. They were going to start a project at Kirkwood in the summer, called the Kirkwood Lighting Project and needed another unindentured worker. So he asked me if I wanted the job and that If I did, he’d let the owner know that I would be interested in doing it. I told him I’d take the day to think about it because I’ve never really put into thought of leaving the Mill. I later followed up texting him some questions like, “How much do they pay?” and “What are the hours I’d be working?” Everything he told me made me further consider leaving my current job. My current situation at the Mill was not exactly where I wanted to be. The work was becoming slower and slower and they weren’t needing my help as much, so I was only getting about 20 hours a week. And with college coming soon, that would not suffice my college expenses and would not get me very far. That night I asked my Dad what he thinks I should do, and he told me to go for it.
