It shows that although they were hardworking and diligent, they did not have the credibility that some other, more successful reporters would have had. Despite their lack of credibility, these two took on a story that would take down an entire presidency. Shown during the movie and in an interview with Renee Montagne , the process of uncovering the scandal was long drawn out. During the interview, the three of them talked about how they slowly put all the pieces together. First it was the burglary, and then the connection to other political crimes. The movie did a great job with this because it even went further to show the people Woodward and Bernstein interviewed and questioned. During the interview with Montagne, Woodward and Bernstein said that they decided to take a different perspective because they wanted to make sure the actual, true story was shown to the public. Showing the movie from the reporters’ side is very eye opening because it shows the extent to which the Nixon Administration tried to cover up their illegal actions. During the movie, the reporters had to take some chances to get the story. When none of the people would talk, the reporters had to guess who was actually involved in the scandal. I think it was astonishing to see that the Administration had such a control on the employees working in it. It scared the people into silence, and this is clearly seen in the movie. This kind of action could not be shown from any other perspective, and that’s why I believe this movie was worthy of praise. The film also displayed the Administration’s thoughts and concerns on the issue. Seen in the movie, segments of some of the press conferences are shown. These little additions also gave the movie more historical strength. Overall, the perspective of the film was incredibly presented, as it clearly presented both sides of the issue. Because of the authenticity and truthfulness of All the President’s Men , the director and producers make the audience question the Administration all together.
