When we talk about effective communication, we need to make sure that the message sent has the same meaning to the person or people who received it. To elaborate more in that subject we are going to discuss the communication in two different videos. In the first two videos is a meeting between Pilar and Miguel. By contrast, emotional conflict involves interpersonal difficulties that arise over feelings of anger, mistrust, dislike, fear, resentment, and the like (Wiley, John & Son Inc, 2011, Organizational Behavior and Management, chapter 18, part 5, page 207). In Pilar and Miguel’s case, the conflict was substantive because it was a disagreement on how Miguel was supposed to use the budget. On Angela and Ralph’s meeting, the conflict was emotional because she was feeling that since she was working at home, Ralph was giving better projects to somebody else at the office. On the direct and indirect approach, Pilar is using on the first video the direct conflict of win-win conflict where she wants to keep the client happy and at the same time have Miguel to use better the budget. In the second video she is using win-lose conflict in which if Miguel do not follow what she is saying he would not get back the campaign. In the other hand, Ralph in the first video is using the indirect approach of appeals to common goals by making sure that Angela take personal responsibility for improving the situation. On the second video, he is using the direct conflict approach in which is the win-win conflict. In this process, he is exposing the problem and at the same time, he is trying to make Angela understand the solution so both ends can win.
