Low wage workers are finding poverty harder to escape . Many people live in poverty. Poverty is a big problem in the U.S and many other countries. Therefore Rhoda is right about the fact that, “ the truth of course is that you are not likely to get out of poverty by simply working hard at a menial job.’’(Rhoda 1).“ Affordable housing has long been a problem." Keeping a roof over one's head is the biggest expense for everyone, it eats up to 72 percent of the poor's income. And is impossible for a full-time, minimum wage worker to find a market-rate, two-bedroom apartment that's affordable anywhere in the country, in this case, affordability is defined as costing less than 30% of income.” (Luhby 2). . Beegle was born into a family where no one was educated beyond the eighth grade . For generations her family lived on menial wage employment and migrant work . Beegle states that life for her was very rough “ I find that thinking of my early educational experiences evokes memories of violence, humiliation, and fear; school became peripheral to my family life and earning a living”. At age 15 Beagle dropped out of school to help her family because school wasn’t feeding her family. It was until age 26 that she was able to attend a women in transition class for the very first time and met a women who made it out of poverty. It gave Beagle strength to pursue her GED and was able to to do it in a short amount of time. In the long run Beagle continued with her education and still has a passion to continue her education. In conclusion escaping poverty is a personal struggle that is only achievable through hard work, dedication, and most importantly
