The Government should raise the minimum wage, due to its affects on urban area poverty. So how does a wage increase affect urban poverty? It does so by providing jobs and income for families wanting to get out of poverty. It reduce the need of government aid, such as food stamps, and section eight housing. In some cases it creates and more reliable employees. Helps the economy by having more money to spend. Depending on whom you ask increasing the minimum wage can have a negative or a positive impact on urban poverty. Of course those under the minimum wage want an increase and those paying the bills are against raising the minimum wage. From just about every paper that I have read on the topic, shows that people are more towards an increase than leaving the minimum wage where it is.
