The participants for this study were a combination of students taking psychology classes and adults of a nearby northeastern community. Results of the tests on convergent and discriminant scales had shown a significance of mindfulness to “clarity of emotional states, mood repair and to a lesser degree attention to emotions” (Brown & Ryan, 2003). The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) was a stronger indication of the relationship of mindfulness and well-being. The MAAS showed significant correlation to engagement (p < .0001). Also, mindfulness was positively correlated to both subjective and objective indicators of physical health. It was positively correlated to self-esteem (p < .0001) and life satisfaction (p < .0001). Mindfulness was negatively correlated to depression and anxiety. “The results of the study indicate that mindfulness is associated with greater well being” (Brown & Ryan, 2003, p. 832). Participants in the study states “mindfulness allows them to be aligned with their emotional states”, “they are able to self-regulate their emotions, and as a result fulfill their basis psychological needs” (Brown & Ryan, 2003, p.
