The Mexica were able to become the dominant power in the Mexico Valley through the formation of the Triple Alliance, which is also coincided with a fundamental change to their society by putting Huitzilopochtli at the top, and creating a warrior class who were his servants on Earth. The calendar cycle, and Huitzilopochtli played a major role in Mexica Culture as they needed constant bloodshed to refill the energy of the Universe especially during a downturn in the cycle causing constant wars of expansion for sacrifices, and rapid growth of their warrior class.
