Mayo-Clinic has been one of the few companies that have truly understood the special nature of service and what it means to marketers.

There main focus isn’t monetary value but human value. They value their patients and as a result that has helped them improve, expand, and prosper. Everyone within their organizations understands their mission and value while practicing it on a daily bases. Doctors have also jumped aboard the ship by accepting a salary income instead of getting paid per patient. This shows their commitment to their team and organization, proving that they too share the same beliefs. They have certainly set the standards high for not only the medical field but all organizations. They continuous commitment to providing excellent customer service has proven to work. They have succeeded by taking a different nontraditional approach from the typical clinics and hospitals.     This week's discussion board concerns that of quality in the operating room. The case of Forthright Medical Center: Social marketing and the Surgical Checklist is very interesting in that all of the issues that came about during the surgery could have been easily avoided if the staff was properly trained and made aware of the hospitals mandated new quality improvement initiative.
