Martin Luther is a leader among leaders. In the time that he was alive he accomplished something that a man wishes he could have done. He changed the face of the world by just 95 statements that all of Europe read. Martin Luther is an amazing leader who started the Reformation, and he saw a flaw in what the Catholic Church was doing and decided to take an action on what was wrong. Martin Luther was born on November 10, 1483, in a little town in Germany called Eisleben. During his childhood his father made their family's income by being a copper miner. Martin Luther wrote them because the Catholic Church, who was being run by Pope Leo X, was selling indulgences. The Catholic Church’s goal in doing this was so that they could raise money in order to re-build the Basilica of St. Peter. Which is where St. Peter was believed to be buried. In Martin Luther’s 95 Theses he focuses on two main beliefs, one being that the bible is central religious authority, and the second being that people get to heaven by faith and not the good deeds of oneself. Also because of the new invention of the printing press, the 95 theses got through europe at an extremely fast rate. Soon Pope Leo X saw that people were being influenced by Martin Luther’s 95 Theses, and Pope Leo X decided to excommunicate him in 1521.After this he was asked by the Emperor Charles V, and he refused to stop with his heretical beliefs and therefore Emperor Charles V declared him an outlaw and a heretic. Because of Pope Leo X excommunicating him, and Charles V basically ruining his life, he had to flee to Wartburg Castle, in 1522.
