Before the Lovings v Virginia case interracial relationships were illegal, and you would be sent to jail if you were involved in one. June 12, 1967 was a landmark of civil rights with the Lovings v Virginia case. Richard and Mildred Loving brought the case to attention by a white man and a black woman, being sentenced to a year in prison for marrying each other. Lovings Day is a day interracial couples annually remember on June 12. Many interracial couples wait for Lovings day to get married. After a unanimous decision the Lovings court case was overturned. Since the court case was finalized the number of interracial relationships has increased immensely. Society should not judge others based on what color their skin is. Despite what our country believes interracial relationships should not be judged because one is colored and one is not. Our society judges others based on what they want to see and what society has been taught about them. Many children of interracial couples do not get treated as fairly as those of a normal couple. Interracial couples as like every couple deserve fair treatment. When we judge others we are not defining them we are only defining ourselves. Love should not be defined by color but by what you see inside the other
