The locavore movement has good intentions, it promotes a healthier lifestyle, it helps local economy, and it creates sense a community. Although the movement may seem bad for the economy on a global scale its benefits outweigh its cons. The locavore movement can help decrease health problems, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and help local farmers. If benefits are what people seek then why not carry on a movement that will ensure many positive contributions to our society and planet. Eating locally grown food has many health and local economy benefits. Locally grown foods are in a much closer proximity and are not transported far away this helps decrease the amount of carbon dioxide emissions. Due to farmers being local it would help decrease the prices of the foods because it means less transportation funds which means farmers can make more money while the people pay for less. This is way better than paying for less nutritious and expensive grown foods from other places. The movement would help increase the local economy according to Source A in which Jennifer Maiser said that, “a dollar spent locally generates twice as much income for the local economy”. Basically this means that slowly but surely the local economy will become even better and financially adequate. Also from Source A “When you buy local, you give those with local open space—farms and pastures—an economic reason to stay open and undeveloped.” This means that locavore movement can support itself because its helps the local farmers to obtain more land to plant and grow more foods for the local community. There is a loop that benefits everyone, the farmers, the consumers, and the local economy. From Source E, “The Local food movement has already accomplished something that almost no one would have thought possible a few years back: a revival of small farms. After declining for more than a century, the number of small farms has increased 20% in the past six years, to 1.2 million, according to the Agriculture Dept. . . .” With the revival of farms that can only mean continuous growth for local food business and with more farms; means greater distribution of locally foods that can help inspire healthier eating options and
