What I would say to the people who are making this decision is to fully think it through and do not rush the process. It will be a hard decision, but it must be done. I would also tell them the options the patient has, and explain each of the options thoroughly so the family and patient fully understand each process. The healthcare professional needs to have a fairly neutral mindset and viewpoint during their office hours. They cannot show their opinions about how the process should be carried out as the family or patient might take offense. Making this conversation is as difficult to the health care professional as it is with the family and patient. The health care professional might be invested in patient and feel like they failed when they have to make this conversation. I think it would make me feel sad and like I failed not only the patient but the family when we have to talk about the dying
