Imagine you show up to school one day and the contents of your locker were searched through, then you head to class only to be told you are not allow to have a sticker on your shirt that says you support a your troops by wearing it. What ever happened to privacy and the freedoms of the first amendment? As a student your privacy rights are restricted and you could have less to even no privacy. Plus, your First Amendment rights can be altered to an extant as well. The government is not allowed to intercede with your privacy so it would only be fair that schools would not be allowed to do the same. Also, the government can not suppress your freedom of speech just because it is found to be unethical. It is unconstitutional for schools to be able to limit a students Fourth and First Amendment rights without sound reason. Due to this issue the Supreme Court has been ruling in favor of students majority of the time when it comes to cases about students privacy and any cases having to deal with violating a students first amendments as well. …show more content…

In keeping the safety of the school's environment, the Supreme Court tries to balance students' constitutional rights with the rules schooling system has. Currently, the "balance" is leaning more towards the safety and drug policies schools have and against additional constitutional rights students have in the world outside of school.
