Laurel, David, And Tamani: Character Analysis

Throughout the book there are three commonly brought up characters; Laurel, David, and Tamani. Throughout the story they all, in different ways, evolve. Laurel is the main character and is what this story revolves around. She starts as a teenager, worried about starting a public school and complaining about all the students. She’s normal besides the fact that she’s a vegetarian and never goes to the doctor for anything. Then changes as her body changes and forms a blossom. She then became distant from all around her, until she confides in her trust worthy friend David and meets Tamani. As her and David research she becomes aware that she is different from everyone else. Then becomes overwhelmed in wanting to find out what she is. This is where Tamani comes into the story; he has all the answers she needs in order to understand herself. She became torn between the human and faerie world, not sure of what to choose. All of which develops the theme and the plot of her trying to save her families land, Avalon the faeries world, from Mr. Barnes, for the faeries. …show more content…
He was her first friend when she started a public school. He starts as a best friend but makes it obvious that he will be her friend, the person she can vent to, or a person that will love and be with her. He is the one that helps her begin to discover what she is and her trust worthy friend that she shares all with; including her and Tamani’s conversations. He is her partner in finding out the truth and helps her uncover the supernatural. He is there for her most of the time throughout the book, protecting and accompanying her. While also helping her get through her hard times accepting what she is and what she has to do in order to protect her
