John Wayne Gacy, also known as “The Killer Clown”, was overweight and unathletic as a child. His father was a physically and verbally abusive alcoholic. At the age of eleven, Gacy was hit in the forehead by a swing, resulting in head trauma forming a blood clot that went unnoticed until he was sixteen (Taylor). While Gacy was married to his first wife there were rumors about his homosexuality, and he repeatedly cheated with other men. When his wife became aware of what was going on, she filed for a divorce (Taylor). One of Gacy’s victims, Timothy McCoy, in January 1972 was lured in at the bus station where Gacy offered him a ride home. He was stabbed to death and buried in a crawlspace of Gacy’s basement (Biography Editors). July 1975, John Butkovich disappeared. He told them he picked up male teenagers or male prostitutes from bus stations or off the streets and brought them back to his house where he would promise them money for sex or grab them by force. After he sexually assaulted them he murdered them and buried the bodies in a crawl space or his basement (Taylor) . His name “The Killer Clown” became known when he was in his fourteen years of death row, he took up oil painting and painted portraits of clowns because he said they were his alter ego. “A clown can get away with murder”
