Think I’d let you carry your own work card?” Lennie grinned with relief. (Steinbeck 5) John Steinbeck wrote Of Mice and Men in the book there are two friends named Lennie and George and they work on a ranch. In the book Of Mice and Men all the characters have an impairment. Crooks has two impairments that affect him on the ranch. As well as Candy, he has a couple that makes him not do much on the ranch. Another character that has an impairment that makes him have a lot of responsibility is Geroge. Lastly is Lennie has impairment makes it hard for him to listen to people.
One of the many characters that is handicapped in the book is Crooks. Crooks has a couple of impairments one is that he is the only black guy on the ranch. An example of this impairment can be seen when Crooks says“ Well I got a right to have a light. You go on get outta my room. I ain’t wanted in the bunkhouse, and you ain’t wanted in my room.”( Steinbeck 68) Crooks is not allowed to do a lot of things that all the other guys do. Another example of when this impairment is seen can be found when the others guys are playing horseshoes and they will not let him play seen he is black. He deals with his impairment everyday on the ranch. A final instance of this impairment is when the jobs are done for the day all he can do is sitting in…
