Jimmie Rodgers had a hard time starting off his career,but in the end he was successful. In 1927, he teamed up with a string band called the Tenneva Ramblers. The band landed a regular but unpaid spot on a local radio station in Asheville, North Carolina. When they lost their job at the station the band managed to find a new gig performing at a Blue Ridge Mountains resort. Jimmie got a big break from his singing career when he learned that Ralph Peer, was holding a additions in Bristol, Tennessee. Their additions went over well, but the night before they were scheduled to record with Peer, Rodgers and his band got into an argument about billing.
