His dad got custody of Jimi and his brother, Al. His dad would not let them go to their mom's funeral. Instead he gave them a shot of whiskey and said, “You are a man now and you have to deal with loss.” Before Jimi was famous, he was caught in a stolen car three times. He had the option to go to prison for 10 years or go into the the Army for three years. He chose to go into the Army. In the Army he was training to be a paratrooper at Fort Campbell, which is in Kentucky. Jimi Hendrix started playing a one string ukulele at age nine.
