Pringles Are Pringles potato chips? Your answer is probably yes, but you would be wrong. Because of its lack of potato, Pringles cannot be classified as a potato chip, just a savory snack. The company admits that Pringles are not potato chips. Pringles consist of only 42% potato. Pringles look, smell, and taste like one but it is all artificially made with ingredients that are bad for our bodies, the way they are produced disposes some of the original nutrients from the food, and, as a result of the ingredients it has poor nutritional value. Pringles have many revolting ingredients that are barely FDA approved. 42% of it is made up of potato and the remaining ingredients are mostly wheat, rice, and corn. The coloring in Pringles are yellow 5 and yellow 6. According to “What is that Ingredient”, Yellow 5 is Tartrazine which is dye derived from coal tar. Coal tar is a brown or black liquid and is produced when coal is carbonized to make coke or gasified to make coal gas. It can also be used to make creams, ointments, paints, pastes, gels, soaps, solutions and shampoos.Yellow 6 is another dye found in most Pringles. It is benzenesulphonic acid treated with hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite. It also has autolyzed yeast extract, malted barley, wheat bran, and dried black beans. Pringles have diglyceride which is a glyceride that consists of two fatty acids, glucose, disodium inosinates found in pigs and fish.
