Is help is needed in order to make sense of the world? Are the deepest emotions need to be expressed? Looking for a healthy way to cope with whatever is on mind? Is recognition is needed? Well, these are good reasons why many authors such as Gary Snyder, Billy Collins, Marilyn Nelson, Ruth Forman, William Carlos Williams, Bob Hicok, and so many others decide to write. And, these must be also the reasons why one should not hesitate to grab a pen and a paper, or a laptop to start writing.
After carefully read these poems titled “Making it in Poetry” by Bob Hicok and “Poem” by William Carlos Williams from the book titled “Literature to Go” by Michael Meyer, these two authors were expressing about life. They clearly stated how even though there is a passion for something in life, which the outcome may not be as wished due to the fact that the path taking could have a “jamcloset”. Just as “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” poetry is experienced differently by different people. Poetry is emotional and everyone should experience the beauty of a poem that speaks to the soul. And, author Gary Snyder in “How Poetry Comes to Me” explains the same idea. Which, he expresses poetry as a natural value to some, and a gift that others spend a life time looking for. Mr. Snyder replaces all real world allusion with art and God’s gift of nature when he stated that “It comes blundering over the Boulders at night, it
