The first one being acculturation which is a process of learning rules and norms of a different culture. Acculturation was one the concept that came into mind because Anaida has really learned the rules and norms of Americans. For example as when she would ask for gum “give me gum” Some people would take it as a command and as rude. Now that she has acculturated and has learned rules and norms she says, “can I have some gum”? The next concept that came into mind was the importance of culture, specifically sensitivity to cultural difference. In which states that American society has changed from assimilationist attitude to one that values cultural diversity which is great. This came into mind because when Anaida explained to me her wedding traditions and I asked if they still kept the same culture in America she said they do. I think that is great personally, I always love to see other peoples customs and cultures and Is very nice that as American we value culture diversity. Lastly, the last concept that came into mind was verbal communication. During our conversation, we discussed on how she would hang up and not say bye and would just hang up. The message was received as kind of rude. It would express a feeling of her being mad at me.
