Introduction The role of technology has evolved tremendously in educational programs from early childhood classrooms to postsecondary adult learning classrooms. Technology in the classroom must not be viewed as an add-on, but as a necessity for designing engaging and meaningful differentiate instruction that meets the needs of all learners. According to Edyburn (2013) there is a need for technology in educational programs “because digital media offers flexibility, tools, and support not available in traditional instructional settings with chalkboard, textbook, paper, and pencil” (Ch. 1.4). This brief composition will discuss strategies to efficiently integrate technology into early childhood education programs, describe how technology can be used to create differentiated instruction for children with special needs and English Language Learners (ELL’s), and demonstrate how early childhood teachers and parents benefit form technology integration.
Integrating Technology Today’s classrooms are filled with a diverse group of learners with different interest, readiness levels, needs, abilities, and disabilities. Educators must be able to design a learning environment that meets individual students where they are in their learning process. Technology integration is one of the most effective strategies for teaching diverse learners.
