Pete Hamill, a witness to the fall of the second twin tower, spoke of many emotions expressed from neighbors, such as horror and rage, that quickly changed into one thing. "This is what remains: vulnerability. And from vulnerability there has emerged a tough fatalism"(Hamill 7). Leaving the country in this position, it has led to discrimination of particular races that may "fit the part" of a terrorist. From susceptibility, America began to have a fear of Islam and an anti-Muslim sentiment, including those who are perceived to be Muslims. Not only were Muslims affected, but also those who are Arab-American and of South Asian descent. Going beyond harassment, there has been vandalization of Religious centers and those that still think these people are suspicious figures at airports. Though Muslims became the "poster child" of racial discrimination, they are not the only ones affected by this event.
