The United States is one of the powerful political and economic in the world, consisting of many people coming from another country. Immigrants played a critical role in promoting economic growth. Despite the many contributions of immigrants, some Americans worried that immigration will erode the country’s culture and economy. In this two primary source “Our Misery and Despair” by Dennis Kearney, and the other one “Fair’s Fair” by Joseph McDonnell, these critics argued that American cultural and society were under siege, and because of the immigrant from China posed a big threat to working Americans.
