Figural Painting Analysis

Paintings have been used as a type of expression for many years now. Using figural, landscape, and still lives as different styles of depiction. In the past and specifically during the 6th c. CE it was more common to paint on the behalf of a religion. Depending on the religion being painted came a different style, where for intense some faiths chose figural illustrations and others chose inscriptions to tell their stories. In Christian and catholic art it was very common to see figural paintings, and scenes involving people to establish a story. These story depictions usually came from or were inspired by different series of events from the bible. However, here we have a depiction familiar to those who practice the Catholic faith. We now move away from the Byzantine notion of art and find ourselves with the use of figural paintings instead to illustrate mother and son relationships, as well as honoring idealized people of the Catholic faith and religion. The importance of this painting is demonstrated by the drawing of the halos above their heads. This provides evidence that these two figures are significant individuals in the catholic faith. This figural painting moves away from the Byzantine art, which used male expression to then exhibiting the relationship between a mother and her son. This new thyme sends a tranquil message and visual to the viewer. The painting now speaks for itself in the ways in which the artist chooses to paint the intended subject. Now we see clear figural depictions of important people in the catholic faith, which in the case we concluded to be the Virgin Mary and her son,
