For as long as I can remember I have been a daddy’s girl. It’s not that I loved him more than my mom, we just clicked better. We would always hunt deer together, jam to ACDC, and munch on Chinese food. My mother and I had little to nothing in common and rarely spent quality time together. She was still my mom and I trusted her and loved her, but that all changed in the summer of 2006 when my parents divorced and she remarried. I was furious at my mother for marrying a man that I didn’t know, letting me find out the way I did, and doing it so soon after she divorced my dad.
After my parents divorced, my sister Macy and I started having to go to our mom’s parents ' house after school because my mom was working and she didn’t want dad picking us up. We couldn’t ride the bus to our house because I was only 8 and Macy was 11 and that was far too young to stay by ourselves. So we would get on the bus that went to Eldridge and got off at one of the stops in Glen Allen. That day was just like any other, I got on the bus after my sister since she was in the 5th grade and I was in the 3rd. Our first cousins, Heather and Ethan, lived next to my grandparents so they rode the bus too. When we got to the bus stop our Mawmaw was waiting on us, we begged her to stop at the gas station so we could get snacks but she said no that she was cooking supper.
