People always say that artists of any kind are crazy to follow their dreams. The same goes for writers. Everybody always says that the chances you’ll even get published are slim to none. However, it’s novelists like C. S. Lewis, Rick Riordan, Kristin Cashore, and J. K. Rowling that show that it is possible to write as a career. They made it. Why can’t we? Inspirational writers like them keep the business alive and flourishing. According to Nick Morgan, from Forbes magazine, “between 600,000 and 1,000,000 books published every year in the US alone.” People always love to hear stories. Writers are storytellers. They have told stories since the dawn of humanity, even before written language existed. Writers are a necessary part of society. Leslie Hamilton, a local writer/novelist who just recently had a novel published, told me “We need writers to write about the world, to tell the stories of humanity. We need writers to write about the worlds they have created. There will always be a need for writers.” They keep people optimistic and headed towards the future. They are pioneers, both of the future and fantasy.
This ideal has been an enormous reason why I 've loved the idea of being a writer. J. K. Rowling changed the world. The Harry Potter series is still the top selling book series in the world.
