Place preference tests were performed on the third generated male and female MAHDR and MALDR mice. This trial was to familiarize the mice with the apparatus and handling procedures. MA-induced conditioned taste aversion was also performed on the third generation MAHDR and MALDR mice. Mice were given water, but had the opportunity to consume sodium chloride six separate times and the sodium chloride levels were measured in milliliters. Here, no injections were administered except for after the removal of the salt solution from the mice. Both sexes were used in all experiments, and follow-ups whenever the sex didn’t interact with other factors. In the CPP, it was observed that a significant place preference in the MAHDR line, but not in the MALDR line. In the conditioned taste aversion, they observed methamphetamine induced conditioned taste aversion in the MALDR strain but not in the MAHDR strain. The sex of the mice didn’t interact with any factor. MAHDR and MALDR mice exhibited differences in methamphetamine regulation of gene expression. They only shared three genes that were regulated by
