When Montag met seven-teen year old Clarisse, he wouldn't’ve thought she could do anything to change him. Days turning into weeks, and weeks turning into months, Clarisse’s personality is starting to rub off on Montag. Clarisse has an absolute love for books, nature, anything that’s pretty much prohibited. Clarisse shows Montag more and more of the outside world. She would take him places and they would spend the afternoons reading. Montag likes the fact that Clarisse is different and unique. He feels he can be himself around her. Later, Montag meets Faber in the park one afternoon. Montag sees that Faber is reading a poetry book. Montag reassures Faber that it is okay and he will not be punished. They talked for a while and Faber gives Montag his phone number and address. We find out that Faber was an English professor. Faber teaches montag how to love books, and teaches him the purpose behind reading them. Montag calls Faber the professor instead of calling him by his real name. Montag calls the professor and asks how many copies of the bible are left. Little did he know, he had the last copy. Montag enjoys reading, but has to hide it from his peers, and the rest of the world. Montag changes through the course of the story, and his actions and beliefs by the end are impeccable. When Clarisse died, Montag fell apart. He goes to her house with Beaty when he realized there were books laying out. Once Beaty saw them he ordered Montag to burn the house, but he wouldn't do it. Beaty then tries to arrest Montag and after several minutes of fighting, Montag burns Beaty to a crisp. Montag runs to his house and packs up
