Life in the Holocaust
The Holocaust was the killing off six million Jews by the Nazi. The Holocaust lasted from 1933 to 1945. “Holocaust is a word of Greek meaning ‘sacrifice by life.’” (USHMM) Once the Holocaust was over they placed the survivors in Displaced person camps. “Adolf Hitler’s philosophy of Aryan Superiority led to the Holocaust.” (Spielvogel 640) The Holocaust has made a lasting impact on humanity as a result of the intense loss of life, the immoral treatment of others and a disregard of different groups’ rights of equality.
The Nazi killed approximately six million Jews from 1933 to 1945. “May 7, 1945, the day the German armed forces surrendered to the allied forces.” (Soon) The Jews died because of starvation, disease, neglect and maltreatment. The Nazi killed Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, and many more. “Other groups’ were persecuted on political, ideological, and behavioral grounds, among them communists, socialists, Jehovah’s witnesses, and Homosexuals.” (USHMM) The biggest concentration camps was Auschwitz Concentration Camp. The top three deaths were in Germany, Austria, and Belgium. In Germany (1938 Borders) there was approximately 130,000 deaths. Austria there was approximately 65,000 deaths. Belgium & Luxembourg there was approximately 29,000 deaths.
Train cars were taken by the prisoners from the ghettos to the camps. The Nazis believed that moving large numbers of Jews by railway was the easiest and cheapest thing to do. Often, Jews…
