The interviewer asked “What can you remember from the time when Hester was up on the Scaffold?” Twas’ a crisp summer morning as I remember, Hester was coming out through the prison lane and onto the scaffold. Walking by the People were gossiping about her whilst she was on the stage, talking about her adultery with this, unknown male. Up there on the stage she was being scorned at by all the townsfolk, her baby in her arms. The light was shining bright upon them, it seemed that it was shining brighter on Hester and Pearl then the rest of the crowd. They were illuminated along with the Scarlet Letter, beautifully stitched upon her breast shining with the help of the strong rays of light. The light was affecting Pearl so much that she was forced to turn away from the sun in her mother's arms in an attempt to protect herself. Hester went back to prison for a short amount of time and upon her release she surprisingly stayed in Boston. She isolated herself along with her young daughter in a small, quaint cabin along the outskirts of Boston. Most of the town did not approve of her and shunned her and her daughter away from public events or anything in that sort of matter.
