She would not hesitate to use the pistol in self-defense, but it was also a symbol to instruct slaves, making it clear that “dead Negroes tell no tales.” Timid slaves seemed to find courage in her presence; no one ever betrayed her. She affirmed her faith in God in her statement, “I always tole God, I’m gwine to hole stiddy on to you, an’ you’ve got to see me trou [through].”(History.com Staff, 2009) This means that she had a purpose to do what she did and how she did it. She had a pistol on her everywhere she went and she wanted to prove to people that she wasn’t scared of anyone or anything. Next, she showed integrity by marrying a free man that didn’t really love her. then shortly after they got a divorce and she soon married a lawyer that helped her investigate things about her mother. I know this is because it states,"Shortly after her marriage, she hired a lawyer to investigate her own legal history, and discovered that her mother had been freed on a technicality upon the death of a former owner. First, the first thing she did after the war was go on a boat and hang out with the men who survived. I know this because it states that,“With a commitment to service, Harriet joined the great men in their fight During Civil War. On a gunboat raid in 1863, she was with Col. Second,You may have thought that through that after the war that she was a free woman, but she wasn’t, she was still a slave. I know this because it states,”Tubman’s resistance to slavery did not end with the outbreak of the Civil War. Her services as nurse, scout, and spy were solicited by the Union government. For more than three years she nursed the sick and wounded in Florida and the Carolinas, tending whites and blacks, soldiers and contrabands."(History.com Staff, 2009). Lastly, the last thing she did was help a bunch of kids in with no parents after slavery ended. She took them in as if they were her own. I know this because it states that,"Tubman welcomed several young children into her home and raised them as if they were her own. She also provided shelter and support for a number of aged, impoverished, former slaves." (about education, April 26, 2015). These are some of the ways she should
