The economy of the 1920’s depended on consumer demand, one advertiser says, “without imagination, no wants. Without wants, no demand to have them supplied.” This means that if people didn’t have the capacity to desire products, then there would simply be no demand for them. Everything celebrities wore, ate, drank, used, and drove, were soon picked up by the public audience.
