Hampton Robb received her nursing degree in 1882 from Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City during the post-Civil War era known as the Maturation Era (Maturation Era, para 1). She begins her nursing career at a time when the steady growth of population rises due to the increasing number of immigrants entering the United States. With more people in the country, the demand for nursing care increases as well.
