But was it right to fight even death itself to have his love lost again? Orpheus was just a moral man who was not the offspring of a god or goddess. He just had the gift of music, which even convinces the rulers of death to release his wife from the grips of the underworld. Yet a normal musician took on this undertaking for selfish reasons to prevent or delay his potential suffering. With the absence of his love, Orpheus was compelled to go to underworld to reverse her death. In an alternate outcome of the classic story, if he did succeed on reviving her back from the dead, what's stopping him from doing it again if another incident like snake bite killed her again. Orpheus would most likely go back to underworld to revive her again. It challenged the very idea of life and death and he doesn’t care because he would want his own desires to be satisfied compared to let the dead rest in peace. As I mention earlier, if Orpheus truly loved her, he would have sacrificed himself to be with her forever. We can’t determine how long they have been together but we could assume they got married after their engagement rather quickly because of her beauty and his music. When viewing another classic story, they can be seen to have similarities to Romero and Juliet. They were young and foolish to believe that they were meant to be because of their first encounter, as the quote that says "love at first sight." It would been understandable if there was an outside force like Cupid's arrow or in Greek mythology Eros would cause them to be together. If viewed through a modern lens, the concept would be the same. If two people who just met would fall in love and get married, they could be seen in as negative light by other people because they lack enough knowledge of each other to make a secure choice to get wed. As for Eurydice, she wouldn’t have been able to grasp the entirety of human concepts or even the idea of love itself because of how short lived she was.
