When thinking about Greece people mostly think of their inventions. Greece’s creations is still alive and has influenced our ways of culture we have today. Architecture is one of the most noticeable influences and the most common form is columns. Many important buildings in America have columns such as the White House, Lincoln memorial, and many collages. Another part of Greece that we keep alive is their form of education in both school and military. The Greeks created a method of teach called the Socratic method this is named after Socrates who was a philosopher who taught people to question and think about topics. Believe it or not but a lot of the common things we use today was once invented by the Greeks such as an alarm cock, anchor, a clock tower, maps, umbrellas, and even the vending machine. If a civilization is dead that means that nobody talks, studies, or even acknowledges what they have accomplished. According to Elie Wiesel, ”Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory, there would be no civilization, no society, no future.” We obviously remember Ancient Greece and know about modern Greece so how could Greece be dead. Today Greece may have a horrible economy and government but they are still alive and so are the ancient greeks. Ancient Greece may have had slaves but so has lots of countries at one point but they are still alive. Greece has contributed to the creation of civilization. Present day Greece and Ancient Greece are both alive and will continue to be for centuries
