    A. To further Flynn and Lucy’s play I could provide them with environmentally friendly materials and equipment. By introducing props in children’s play, we can help motivated them to express themselves creatively and explore through unstructured play time. Recycled open-ended materials are ideal, such as toilet rolls, bottles and ice-cream containers rather than directed play such as already made items that can limit a child’s play. With these materials children are more likely to help create and discover along the way while they play. I would also ask lots of open ended questions such as “what item do you think would be best to make the dinosaurs new home out of?…

Young postulates seven principles for teaching science, one such principle is that children see the world only from their own point of view, a concept that Cognitive Psychologist Piaget calls egocentrism. Egocentrism perceptually influences and dominates children’s limited ideas about the world around them. During this phase student may develop erroneous reasoning when exploring certain concepts. For instance, Bell B (1993) shows that if the same amount of water is poured in a tall and a short container the child may assume that the tall container holds more water and this thinking may persist if not corrected by teachers. Due to Egocentrism children project subjective qualities onto external objects or events and they are unable to decenter from their own perspective.…

Our Relationship with Nature: Do children suffer from “Nature-Deficit Disorder?” Nature can be defined as the natural resources that have been on earth for several years such as trees, the ocean, animals, sand, the desert and so on. In our technological era, we have neglected the true understanding of nature. The genuineness of nature is when we are emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually engaged with the natural world around us; it is also when we can touch and use our senses with our surroundings. Our generation plays a role in how children perceive nature and it is not a positive one.…
