Flynn And Lucy's Play: Play Analysis

Decent Essays
A. To further Flynn and Lucy’s play I could provide them with environmentally friendly materials and equipment. By introducing props in children’s play, we can help motivated them to express themselves creatively and explore through unstructured play time. Recycled open-ended materials are ideal, such as toilet rolls, bottles and ice-cream containers rather than directed play such as already made items that can limit a child’s play. With these materials children are more likely to help create and discover along the way while they play. I would also ask lots of open ended questions such as “what item do you think would be best to make the dinosaurs new home out of? This will encourage them to be creative while letting them use their problem

Great Job of John Erman’s Version of A Streetcar Named Desire John Erman had done a great job on filming the play, A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee William, into movie, which was released in 1984. The classical music, lighting, and the representation by the actors were all blended together perfectly to express the play—I even think it is more engaged than the play. From the beginning to the end, Erman shortened scenes that are relatively insignificant to allow the main plots to “shine”.…

Portfolio Assignment- Activity Plan I assuming in this activity I am one of the teachers and my goal would be to encourage exploration and discovery through play, in a safe environment. I would always start with rules. Preschool: with an apron only, small half way filled water play container outside with colorful pit toy balls mixed in with toy dinosaurs, using their hands. Small group adult supervision required, find only the dinosaurs.…

Every person has had a traumatic past or an unfortunate event that has affected them one way or another; all have a different way of coping, and for Tennessee Williams it was writing. One of his better known plays,“A Streetcar Named Desire”, is a play constructed of pieces of his past childhood. The play is constructed of symbolism, aggressive diction, and conflict to be as a stage for William’s broken, beaten down mind. Tennessee Williams was born in Columbus, Mississippi; he had two siblings and his mother and father- a full house. Though it may seem like he had a complete undamaged family, life wasn’t easy for him.…

I do not think Sister Aloysius’s actions would be different if she were the principal at a secular school because I honestly think that a secular school principal would demonstrate some of the same actions Sister Aloysius did. Principals base their actions on what they think needs to be done about a situation; however, some of those actions are not the best way to handle things. In a principal’s mind, their number one job is to protect the students in the school from harm, either in the school or outside of it because those dangerous situations affect not just their education, but also their whole life. Students and teachers might think that what the principal is doing is unfair and that the actions should not be allowed, but what they might…

Joseph Cornell was an artist known for his shadow box art. He kept his interests separate and together by creating these boxes which also reflected the small wooden house in which he lived. The script is made of compartments rather than having one event trigger another. A character may come into a scene or Cornell may move out of a scene and the scene completely changes. It is not always clear if the stage directions are to only be followed or if some are to be read.…

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a production of ''The Diviners,'' on Sunday, March the Nineteenth. The performance was put on by the Calhoun Community College theatre department. The play was staged in the black box theatre of The Alabama Center for the Arts in Decatur, Alabama. It was an impressive performance especially when considering the size and arrangement of the stage. Even with such limitations, the cast were able to turn the stage into a window into prohibition era Indiana.…

“A Christmas Story”, the play directed by Susan Ferley and performed at December 2nd, 2015, was a well-performed play in my opinion. The story is about a boy named Ralphie Parker wanting a BB gun: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and "this thing which tells time" for his Christmas present. In the story, he does all he can to receive that gun but their parents reject his wish because they thought it was too dangerous for him. The writer, Jean Shepherd, wrote about a very boring outline of the story but made the story humorous and exciting for the audience. The performances in the “A Christmas Story” was very well done by the actors.…

Estonian Displaced Persons: Coping with displacement through preserving Estonian culture For a small country such as Estonia, with only a little over a million citizens, culture is an incredibly important part of people’s identity. So when the Nazis and Soviets occupied Estonia and forced the already small population to either endure the horrors of imprisonment, concentration camps and hard labor, or to scatter and flee, one of the only things that the people of Estonia could take with them was the shreds of the culture that stuck with them. One of the greatest coping methods for Estonian Displaced Persons was to keep their rich culture alive and to pass it down, as they had for centuries to the next generation.…

The short story, Girls at Play, was a short and interesting piece. After I had read the first paragraph I was starting to wonder what exactly my professor was having our class read. The story was about a group of girls who walked around their school with colorful bands around their wrists. During recess they would attract a group of boy’s attention by gathering around a flagpole with these wristbands on. The group of boys would then come up and snatch a wristband, of a particular color, off of a girl’s wrist.…

The Snow Queen Recently, I had the chance to see The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Anderson at Park Square Theater. The play presented itself different from the time the viewer walked in. When walking in, viewers were greeted with a friendly staff, whose goal was to make each persons view easier and more enjoyable. At first glance, the stage looked different from what most would come to expect. The theater itself appeared clean and prepared for an audience expecting something similar to Frozen.…

This will allow children to make sense of the world around them, offering opportunities to explore places and the environment (Ritchie, 2017). This is a clear opportunity to allow developments of children’s knowledge by ‘learning through play’. ‘Learning through play’ can from the idea of theorists such as Piaget and Vygotsky. Vygotsky, described play as ‘self-education, associating with social and cultural behaviours play is considered through activities such as nursery rhymes, songs, and stories. When I was in elementary school, I spent a portion of my free time creating. I would play with Lego (small interlocking building blocks) for hours, alone or with friends. I also enjoyed making sand castles in my backyard, or at the beach close to my home. My lunch and recess breaks would be consumed by various games of tag, typically Manhunt. Another activity that I loved to do was to visit the petting zoo.…
