There are two different types of genetic testing that have occurred in the work place; genetic screening and genetic monitoring. Genetic screening examines the genetic makeup of an individual job applicant for specific inherited characteristic. For example, in the 1970s African Americans, who carried the gene mutation for sickle cell anemia, were denied employment. As well as, genetic screening was, also, used to screen for genetically determined traits that, would show if a job applicant would be susceptible to certain environment factors that, might be present in the work place. Genetic monitoring is the second type of testing. This would occur to see whether an individual genetic material has change over the time of employment, due to exposure
