Designer babies are here! In the film GATTACA designer babies are created so that humans could be healthier. Parents that do choose to modify their offsprings should only change or choose the desired body features. Is it okay for people to genetically change their babies? Many people such as myself believe that no its not okay and that should take its natural course. Although there are exceptions in my opinion. This can advance the human race into a stronger race than before. I believe that genetic engineering should just be used for health improvement and body characteristics. It should improve a person's health such as if the baby had diseases or had a disorder that would not let them function correctly. Also for parents if they choose …show more content…
Why? Well in the movie GATTACA Vincent and his brother Anton would play chicken which meant that both of them would swim offshore and whoever turns back loses. Vincent the genetically inferior brother beats Anton in chicken something that was not supposed to happen. This part in the movie shows that although Vincent genetically has more faults than his brother he was able to surpass him because his potential is not based by his DNA but more of his free will and what he wants to accomplish. Another example in GATTACA is that Vincent although had a high percent of a heart disease he overcame it and lived passed the doctor’s appointed expiration date. He was also told throughout the movie that he wouldn’t able to go to space because he wasn't qualified. He then became one of the top employees in GATTACA. This shows that his potential was higher than one expected and that only because you don't have the genes to do something or told you can't do something doesn't mean you can not accomplish it. He got where he is at because he wanted to. If someone has outstanding DNA and has it in oneself to be great but if that person doesn't do anything then his or hers potential is not high. Still if a person has “superior genes” implanted in them because of genetic engineering it would still give them an …show more content…
It would not be fair if employers and insurance companies to get our genetic information. It builds a biased opinion as soon as they attain this information. If one employee has a high amount of training and is qualified then that person will get denied to a person with good DNA even if the person with the good DNA is not qualified as much as the other employee. In GATTACA Vincent applied to GATTACA in which he was denied work because of his genetic information but when he got in he was achieving work no one else there was achieving. Thats shows that work and other organizations should not get our genetic information because it would be unfair to those that are more qualified than those with good genes. GATTACA presents many ideas in which are related to

Genetic engineering used to be the thing the scientists experimented on plants and animals but now humans. I dont think its right to change the way people live life just to either look a little better or be a little smarter. It's okay in some situations, for instance when someone has really bad pain and it is never ending. We need something to fix it that is not pain killers. Instead we should just have surgery and never feel that amount of pain again but just enough pain to the point where we don't hurt yourself without knowing it (Doc 2).…

What is genetic testing? Genetic testing is a scientific and medical testing where scientists (change scientists to something else) identify for changes in a person’s genes, chromosomes or protein. It is considered when someone wants to identify health risks, allowing the doctor to make recommendations to their health and decrease their chance in developing the certain disease, or to test to see if the person has other genetic conditions, which would impact their chance of passing on or developing a genetic disorder. Though many positives may outweigh the negatives of genetic testing, does not mean the drawbacks of it should not be considered. When your results are concluded, it may emotionally affect you and your family.…
