The portrayal and understanding of the ballerina has lifted over time since Jenifer Fisher first took her place in the life of female performers in the early nineteenth century. The female ballet dancer's basic flaw is her outrageous outer self and her hard-desired interior. As a great art form, ballet has until recently relied on the more apparent study of flowers and insults from critics and other specialists. Nikki recreates the stereotypes and makes them become real. She makes what we usually think into a reality. The way she portrayed the punks, Hispanics, even the people in Ohio is how many already viewed these people, but what she did was make us see the way we differentiate from one another. The play “Raghead,” by Tom Coach is another great example on how identity is determined based on how you look. This guy ready to meet a girl that he was set up with quickly becomes uninterested once he sees she has a hijab on her head. He didn’t think she was what he thought she was just because of what she had on her head. Once she told him it was an experiment he asked her to take it off. This shows how messed up it is that one can be frowned upon just by what they wear. Sarah said how it was hard for her to get service or anyone’s attention because of how she was dressed. No one really knew her but her identity was predetermined even before she had a chance to explain
