Gateway is designed to help better prepare students for the new journey that is awaiting them. Students have so many new things ahead of them and a whole new world headed their way. Gateway is there to try and make their transition a little bit easier. When coming to college, students are now living on their own. This means stocking their own toilet paper, making sure their trash does not overflow too many times, and many other new things. These writings did exactly that: forced and taught me to reflect on past times. In the process of these writings, I learned how beneficial reflecting on a period of life can be. Reflecting helps you look at things with a new perspective, lets you see things in a new light. Because of the time I spent reflecting, I was able to look back on how much I have evolved, changed, and progressed through a time period. It taught me that it is so easy to look at things so microscopically in the moment, but taking a step back helps you see the bigger picture. It is so easy to get discouraged at some times, but looking back helps you realize there a lot of times is not reason for that. The education and career planning assignments challenged me to think deeper about why it is I wanted to pursue the nursing field and what all would be expected of me over the next few years. Gateway has challenged me to think deeper than I did before.
My Gateway class also had many different informative presentations throughout the semester. One of which being a tour at the library. I learned about many resources I did not know about before such as all the different resources they have available for free to students. I also had the opportunity through Gateway to visit Goddard Health Facility and hear about more resources that are available to students there. Without the help of Gateway, I would have missed out on so many different resources available to me that since then, I have been able to take full advantage
