. Describe the three medical problems associated with the female athlete triad.
In female athlete three medical problems associated with the female athlete triad are eating disorder, amenorrhea and osteoporosis. In many occasion, young athletes are under a lot of pressure to maintain a certain body weight in order to be part of a team or to participate in a competition. For this reason, they might over exercise and follow unhealthy eating habits that caused them to be malnourish. This lack of essential vitamins and minerals can affect their hormonal levels and cause them to suffer from amenorrhea or cessation of their menstrual cycle. At the same time, the hormonal imbalance and the malnourishment can contribute to the development of osteoporosis. Under this condition, the bones become very fragile from the excess loss of calcium; and fractures are common due to over exercise. 2. Compare and contrast anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in where the person even though is underweight, has an unrealistic perception of the body weight and shape. In this condition, the food intake is restrict to fear of gaining weight. The causes are unknown, but middle to high-class female can have a higher risk to suffer from this

In the case of bulimia nervosa, a family type that is controlling but emotionally unsupportive, and criticisms about body weight and shape can contribute to the low self-esteem that is characteristic in this eating disorder. Also, eating behaviors can be learned from parent, especially the mother. In the case of anorexia nervosa, families that are critical and value a lot outward appearance can contribute to the development of this eating disorder. In occasion, the family is aware that there is something wrong with the person, but are in denial. The need of the person to be in control can come from a family that is over
