Resources will be used to give evidence, statistics, and facts and figures. In addition, the proposal will address the many issues on collecting the data.

Previous research claimed that elderly people are most fearful of society. However recent studies show that findings have been reversed and that their perception has altered over time. Ramsay (1989) findings suggest that there is a correlation between feelings of vulnerability and fear levels. It was acknowledged that participant over the age of 60 feared strangers, insults and muggings even though they were less often victimised. Vanderveen (2006) indicated that governments are now spending more time and money toward the reduction of fear as it is a daily occurrence directly influenced by the rise of the fear of crime. Some researchers have only carried out studies focusing specifically on the victims of crime, therefore not taking into consideration the non-victims. Hereby, leaving an opportunity to analysis comparatively all fear of crime which covers all crime categories to give a further comprehensive analysis (Skogan, 1987). So far, research on fear of crime is limited and has failed to produce a progressive body of knowledge this is partial because of the fact that there has been a lack of evidence produce to distinguish the relationship between the theoretical concept and its empirical realisation in the form of its measurement instrument (Vanderveen, 2006). In regards to this research proposal, by conducting a mixed-method research it will be able to give credible research results to existing data by investigating all participants whether they are victims or non-victims to get an overall perception of fear of crime in general. Thus covering all ages, all genders, cultures and ethnicity groups to understand what the general population fear and by using earlier research, this will allow a comparative scope to give a further comprehensive
