Family Interview and Genogram I chose to interview Inmaculada “Alex” DeFeo (2015). She is the source of much of the information. I based assessments on my analysis of her explained life. Detailed is given to her age and familial relations. The strength perspective used in order to highlight strengths in how overcoming or living with situations, statuses, and results of events. Individual and family patterns, concern, and influences regarding them aimed are touched upon.
Family Members Names, Ages, Relationships, and Residence
Alex is a twenty-seven year old single daughter. She resides with her mother. Ana her, fifty-seven year old, mother. Her father, sixty-one year old Sergei, lives between Argentina and Louisiana. Sergei is not present in the household. However, he is held as a great emphasis is placed on his acquisition of an education, profession, and secured middle class status. The extended families are seen as socially and economically successful. This is how they are perceived, but little is actually known.
Strengths Different for Family Members
The strengths are different between Alex and Ana. Ana has sheltered Alex from the barrage of life problems through her own methods. This protection has allowed Alex to focus on obtaining an education, securing a career, and develop a better understanding of the system they live in. Ana has established a foundation for Alex to develop a better life from.
Cultural, Ethnic, and Racial Background
The family is thoroughly racially Caucasian and ethnically Italian. Alex, Ana, and Elizabeth identify as being culturally Italian-Canadian. Sergei is described as racially Caucasian, ethnically Italian-Hispanic, and culturally Italian-Argentinian. No living family member has set foot in Italy.
