I was very young the first time he went to jail, so all I would be told was that my dad had gone upstate for work, but there was no hiding anything from me, I knew what was going on. This went on for a couple years where my dad would constantly be in and out of jail due to his drug addiction and my grandparents were seeing it take its toll on me. So they made the sudden decision to move. I was getting older and they knew I understood what was going on, so they thought the best place to move to would be to Palm Springs. With my dad being pretty much non-existent now, I had to explain to all my friends and family what was going on when they asked. However, that is not what happened because I usually avoided telling people what was really going on. At family gatherings during the holidays, my dad started not coming and my family would ask me where he was but all I would ever tell them is that he wasn’t able to make
