The final stage of the model is Ongoing Recovery. This is the accomplishment of each individual’s focus on recovery and the reconnection with new patters of interaction. During this time, family members can approach how living in an alcoholic family has influenced them and they can grow and progress in new individualities. Lewis and Allen-Bryd based the outline established by Brown and Lewis and created the Family Recovery Typology Model. In this model, families in recovery are classified into three types. Type 1 families are when both the spouses are in recovery and the family system has collapsed from being out of control. Type II families is when only one spouse is in recovery and becoming the main focus of other members of the family.
