Exploration of the Space “Space, the final frontier” is a popular phrase from the television show Star Trek. However, even though this show is fictional, the idea of space exploration is truly real. It may be interpreted in different ways, such as, a need for human exploration or the next destination for human expansion. For centuries, the stars have mystified people all around the world, and it was not until recently that exploration began. Within the last one hundred years, man not only developed flight, but took it a step further delving into the vastness of the universe. In recent years, space exploration has begun to fall to the wayside with massive budget cuts to key programs; as well as loss of interest from the public. The importance of space exploration is one that must not be forgotten as it provides many technologies to society, some of which may not even be considered. Technologies developed for space flight have had an impact on the everyday lives of people; exploration is also working toward answering massive questions such as: the origin of life and the universe.
Space was once thought to be full of potential for new discovery; technologies were developing at an incredible pace, pushed on mostly by competition with Russia. All of the research and innovation culminated in the United States putting the first man on the moon. From that point, scientists began to become more and more excited for the future possibilities of humanity in space. They could not…
